Goth WIP by LindaJaneThomas Goth WIP by LindaJaneThomas
I am trying to sculpt a certain size head for something specific I have in mind...This was too small.

It's frustrating because I'm a little ocd and have to finish things once they get to a certain stage or else I can't start on new things.

No, but I learned with super sculpey. Now, I use a blend of kato transluscent(for strength and flexibility) and puppen fimo transluscent, fimo classic light flesh and fimo classic white. I need really firm clay. And now days, I charge a lot for the sculpts so I want to make sure they are tough and will last a long time.

i have no idea what those things are but you use them like a pro! hey, is that wig hair or real? and while i'm chatting away, you ever do any large sculpts like 10" - 15" (cause these are all tiny looking)

It's real hair that I apply lock by lock to the head.
Called mohair. It's really fine and fits the small scall.

Before I go surfing today, I'm going to finish up a 12 inch sculpt of a guy. It's one of those things that went terribly wrong. I had this idea and changed mid stream and thought I could get away with it. It's really lame....I'm bummed because it's a good head and shoulders. The rest :-(...

Many of my adult dolls are 8-12 inches. But I've never done anything bigger that didn't get tossed in the trash. The armatures have to be really heavy to support the sculpture and that makes posing a pain in the rear for me.

o_o that makes sense. why not just post a bust? those are usually just head and shoulders.

I like how your gallery shows your work in progress.

Sometimes, I want to delete the older works because they embarrass me. But it's helpful to see and reminds me that at the time I thought they were okay. They are my motivation to use each new sculpture as an opportunity to improve in some way or another.

i know what you mean about the OCD thing, once i start something i've got to finish it! it art class when i do a model i ask my other teachers to have the whole day in art to finish it! then i have to take it home and i even prod at it on the bus.
this is amazing, how do you get the body fugure so perfect?!
I'm only able to do babies but i wish i could do women like you! xx
