Mermaid Raffle by LindaJaneThomas Mermaid Raffle by LindaJaneThomas
On May 25, 2012 my friend Kim lost her battle with cancer. She was an amazing artist and a beautiful human being. At the time of her passing, many of those in the sculpting community banned together to try to raise money for her beautiful family who stuck by her by doing blue auctions and donating the proceeds to her memorial fund. I was still struggling with my own battle with cancer at the time and I wasn't able to participate.
I'm doing so much better now, recovering and getting back on my feet. And it's really important to me to be able to help in some way. I wish I had money to give and make a difference but I don't. All I have is my clay and some sparkly stuff :-)
This mermaid stands on her star fish at 8 inches. She is completely hand sculpted and hand painted by me. Currently, I am only doing commissions. My commissions start at $380.00 USD and range to $700.00. I know that is really steep for a lot of my d.A. friends so this is an excellent chance to win one of my sculptures and do a wonderful thing.
It's really easy!
Donate any amount over $1.00 with the message "with love" to Kim's memorial fund here [link]
Every dollar counts as one raffle ticket.
Send me a note here and let me know how much you donated and I will fill out a ticket for you. I will video the random drawing and post it online on September 15th, 2012.

Even if you can't help financially, please help by spreading the word in anyway possible.

This is stunning, just gorgeous! the detail is amazing, from the quirk of her little mouth to the shells in her hair, and her fin! I can't get over how perfect that fin is! Absolutely lovely work, you have an incredible gift:D

I am so sorry to hear about your friend, I think it is wonderful what you are doing to honor her memory. I am so glad to hear that you are doing better after fighting your own battle with cancer--I know what you are going through as I have also had my struggles with Leukemia. I wish you all the best, and hope that you continue to do well my dear! Take care, and again I have to say, I love this sculpture!
